Junior Aviator

The “Junior Aviators” is an aviation program to show juniors what aviation is all about and to give them an experience of being up front in the cockpit with the pilot of an aircraft in flight.
This special course is designed for juniors aged between 8 and 17 it will give them the opportunity to learn more about flying.

  • How an airplane fly?
  • What are the components of an airplane?
  • How do pilots learn to fly an airplane?

In addition to Junior Flyers being a unique feeder program, we designed a new and comprehensive curriculum to bring aviation education to a region where students historically have not had the exposure to aviation education and thus to aviation careers.

Juniors will experience an aviation education through activity-based learning and a curriculum focused on science, technology and engineering.

We believe Junior Aviators’ program will give them incentives to stay in school and perform well academically. Parents also have their place and can attend the course.

Aviation is exciting and vital to our nation’s future.
Junior Aviators will experience:

  • A chance to examine an aircraft close up on the ground.
  • A short Ground School session conducted by a pilot who will explain what the various parts of an aircraft are, what they do, and will answer questions about aviation and flying posed by the participants.
  • A walk around, conducted on an aircraft, to show participants how pilots prepare for each flight and to brief the participants on the safety aspects of their flight.
  • A flight in the front seat of an aircraft where participants will be able to observe all the facets of flight from start-up to take-off to cruising to landing and shut-down.
  • The flying should be conducted one-on-one unless the parent or guardian wishes to accompany the young person and the pilot has room and carrying capacity in his aircraft.

So what will your flight be like?

The biggest question on your mind might be about the actual flight. So what should you expect?

First of all, before the flight, your instructor will explain what will happen during the flight. This might include talking about the airplane;completing a careful “walk around” preflight inspection of the airplane and identifying the parts that control the airplane reviewing an aeronautical chart (or map)and identifying reference points during the flight.

Once you are ready to go flying, your pilot will help you buckle your seat belt and describe the interior of the airplane, including the instrument panel. Pretty soon, it will be time to go flying!

Once in the air, you’ll see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way. You’ll experience the wonderful freedom of flight that many people only dream about. If you are like most Junior Aviators, you’ll remember this experience for the rest of your life.

Once back on the ground, there will be additional time for you to ask questions about your flight. Ask away! Your instructor will be happy to tell you more about flying and their particular airplane.

We look forward to adding your name to the ever-growing list of Beirut Wings’ Junior Aviators!
